I know it has been done by flex already, but I am willing to go over Dm3 dueling. The knowledge I have on this map is quite old and is rather different than what is played today. I still think there will be some benefit to it. The only problem is going to be that I work full time and go to school full time and it is the holiday season. So I have time on tuesday the 26th at *gasp* 11pm pst. So if anyone is a late nighter and wants to attend let me know. I will be on tourney around that time. I most likely won't have a mic, but I may try and ghetto rig up a pair of headphones to use as a mic.

Well I've been mapping since the world began. The world began refering to the release of quake 2. Seeing as that was the most pivital point in human history all time should be recorded relative to that event.

I used to play on the microsoft gaming zone then moved to AQ2 servers. Then to Gloom and finally D-Day. I had a brief intermission of no daily access to quake, at which point the zone shut down.

Since then I've been doing some casual mapping on single player maps and improving some of my old ones. I most often haunt the Vanilla 1 server here. There I pick on Habib, Buzzer Pager, and Pteradactuwolf-Prime. I generally win however half of all out comes are based on a user's interest in the map so I probably don't have a consistant record in any statistics.

But anyway I've been involved with other mappers for quite some time and feel that I have some valid input on the subject both editing, testing, and playing brand new ones.

To be honest I'm getting tired of the infinite supply of "endless corridor" style maps
Maps like Big Space gun and Yo Ho ho are pretty great. (even though Yo Ho Ho is a mediocre remake of my "Waterworld" map from back in '98)

But I digress. The biggest advantage in any game is knowing a map, however I think it's worth a players while to get some insite on how to best adapt to new maps and easy ways to start memorizing them fast.

Here's a really bad recorded sample. Just basically ad libbed. Any final product would have a script and be cleaned up.

Main points:

Understanding basic mapping techniques is very useful
Understanding game function and the code behind it is very useful
Memorizing centers
Don't get lost in corridors
Thinking 'Round Corners
Item shopping to memorize the level

*Correction q2dm5 is pits. q2dm4 is lost hallways.

I have been thinking about this lately. Although my time has been very limited lately, would it be feasable to put together a weekly shoutcast on this subject? (I'm always willing to make time to do the shouting)

Yea PeeWee, that would be spectacular !!! Me and Defiant did something simular using TeamSpeek and people who logged on enjoyed it, but it wasn't a broadcast, just plain ole teamspeek.

My time is completely takin up anymore, hence why the training camp has been all but dead the past year. Just can't seem to drum up the time or energy to get anything going. You know Jehar has the shoutcast so mabey ya'll can get together and come up with something. I can help out, PMs, anouncments, etc etc...
