uhhh, why not make one big release with a lot of fixes or add features instead of little releases over and over.... if I were quadz I'd wait till they slowed down on the releases, that's kind of a hassle.

Since I want the Warsow server to be useful, I'm happy that AlexMax posts here, informing me about current issues and needed upgrades and such, as I wouldn't really know otherwise.

That said, I'm super busy right now so I may not respond very quickly.

Regarding the lag mentioned in a previous post: There are several possibilities. Sometimes theplanet has network issues which can cause lag; other times the CPU gets overloaded. The warsow server is sharing a CPU with a whole lot of quake2 servers. It may be that there were just too many people on too many servers, and the lag set in. Fortunately that doesn't seem to happen too often (it's more often network problems than CPU lag.) But it does happen sometimes.

Hey guys.. the servers been down for a week or so and I was wondering if you could get it back running.. it was also using old pk3 files from 0.21 which it doesn't need since it causes problems.. can you please do another fresh install of the newest version (0.3) whenever you get the chance? There are currently NO servers that are good for me.. all the servers that are set up right I get high ping and/or packetloss and the ones I don't are not set up right.

I would just buy my own but can't find a good enough provider yet. Thanks a bunch

Hi, thanks for the heads up. I had no idea it had crashed. The logfile says:

Error: Mem_Free: not allocated or double freed (free at game/g_utils.c:371)
Recursive Sys_Error: Mem_FreePool: trashed pool sentinel 1 (allocpool at
game/g_main.c:225, freepool at qcommon/mem.c:695)

Sounds like they have some memory allocation/trashing bugs in the latest release.

It's back up again. If it goes down again please don't hesitate to let me know.

As far as the old pk3 files... This actually IS a virgin 0.3 install, however what I did after that was copy all the .pk3 map packs that I had, over to basewsw/maps (but i did NOT overwrite any existing 0.3 files.)

So I'll be happy to delete any old .pk3 files that are causing problems... but I don't know how to guess which ones they are. If you can tell me which ones are problematic, I'll delete them.

wow that was fast, thanks a lot man, it's running great. I don't think theres any custom pk3s needed anymore since warsow comes packed with good maps now including those amphi maps we requested awhile back.

the crash exploit is a known bug and is being fixed if not already, its very hard to duplicate and i kept it from getting out and reported it to the devs, I'm sure it won't happen again. thanks again!

Warsow has been updated to a newer version, and as such, our Tastyspleen warsow server is now incompatible with the most current warsow clients.

The new version is 0.31 and you can download the update here:

I'm getting a 'pure check failed' when attempting to connect to your server. I beleive this is due to the fact that you might still be running 0.31. The most recent release of Warsow is 0.32, and this is most likely going to be the final release in the 0.3x series, and should set you straight for a good while.

Please disable battleeye if you have it enabled in your configuration. Battleeye is now non-existant due to $able getting a new job implementing cheat protection in commercial software.

Hi there tastyspleeners. Thanks for your continued support for North American Warsow by keeping the server up. I just wanted to let you know that Warsow 0.4 is coming out on Saturday, January 19th, 2008 at 8:00PM UTC+1 (which translates to around 2:00PM EST)

When updating the server, it would probably be a good idea to do a fresh install with only the pk3's supplied with the game. In particular, I would recommend against installing any custom maps until people figure out which customs still look okay in 0.4. Please let me know if you run into any bugs or have any trouble with the server package.

Choo choo, 0.42 coming through. This fixes the notorious "challenge queue takes forever" bug, so if you disabled it in your config, it would probably be a good idea to re-enable it. Also, this new version introduces the concept of 'operators'. You set a central 'op password' and anyone with that password can elevate themselves to op status, which gives them the ability to call any vote and have it instantly pass. This might be useful if you are in contact with any of the 'regulars' of the server and trust them with op privileges, since the ability to vote a player to be temporary kickbanned was added in 0.41, which an op can obviously use indiscriminately.

This is probably (knock on wood) the last minor for the 0.4x series unless we find something obscenely game breaking.

Sure, that would be fine. I think we have all the files mirrored there now, including the SDK and the Press Pack.

server info in server browsers aren't always correct for warsow.. just use the grenade launcher to see if its .42
