Use the ladders to gain a height advantage or to reverse on your opponent. Play this map as a warmup before heading to the other arenas. Arena 2 - "Alcatraz" This is a strategy map for 2 players. Rocket jumping will allow you to get to the upper level quickly, helping in misdirecting your opponent. This is a particularly fast map for a strategy type and the frags won't take too long to happen. Arena 3 - "The Blue Max" This is based loosely upon "Rocket Jump This" from Rocket Arena 1. Be careful with the rocket launcher. 2 players. Arena 4 - "Funkadooda's Revenge 2" This is a great strategy map. There are many opportunities to reverse on your opponent, and to use sounds (or silence) to confuse him/her. Camping is not likely to be too successful. All weapons permitted. It is the best map of this arena set and gives you ample chance to be creative about hunting down your foe. 2 players. Excellent viewing sightlines from the triple level observer gallery; don't spend too much time in that cool tracking mode. :) Arena 5 - "Railgun Stadium" This is the centerpiece melee stadium for 6 players, 3v3. It is huge, but somewhat boring because of its almost flat playing field. Contains four wind tunnel lifts to a higher balcony that sits at the center. Arena 6 - "Drop Zone" Aptly named 2-4 player map. Opportunities for railgun drop shots and other fancy moves, including fighting in freefall from time to time. Also challenges players to weigh the consequences of taking falling damage vs. saving time to gain position. There is a way down if you don't want to take falling damage, of course, but in the heat of battle it can get tricky. Designed to showcase Jeff Garstecki's beautiful skymap entitled "Snow." Mt. Stecki looms over the proceedings and the icefields can be seen in all their splendor from both the arena and the observer gallery. This level was originally designed and built by BowZer as "The Mountain Hideout", and then handed over to Funkadooda for inclusion/editing into the pack. Although many major changes were made, both in the texturing and architecture, the basic layout and gameplay theme of the map were preserved and derived from Bowzer's Mountain Hideout. Final inspection for bugs and other graphical oddities was done by BowZer. Arena 7 - "The Warehouse" David "crt" Wright obtained the .map file of the last map in the official Quake2 Deathmatch Map Pack, so that there would be a large scale 'pickup' team arena to play in. Many thanks to Christian Antkow at id Software for allowing us to use and modify the original .map file. ================================================================ ** Play Information ** Episode and Level # : Single Player : Yes, for looking around.
