The new weapon in the ensuing war is the Power Loader, huge, humanoid tanks, heavily armored and armed. The Omni military drew on all segments of its forces to create a special unit of elite loader pilots known as the "Dolls." Now, in the year 2540, as the Earth forces continue to encroach into Omni territory, the Dolls are facing their toughest assignments yet. Other Info : Bringing you tomorrow's PPM today -- in other words, its heavy use of polygons may not run on yesterday's computers. This model in the PowerDoll series is created for owners of high-end computers playing bot-simulated deathmatches. Credits to : iD Software for Quake II Ryan "Ridah" Feltrin for Eraser Bot Phillip Martin for ASCMaker Phillip Martin for Quake 2 Modeller Npherno for NST Roland Karlsson & Brad Klann for Skinview Additional Credits to : Space Dog, for much-needed technical help on merging objects in Quake 2 Modeller when NST crashed Whisp, for providing fix that filters out selected PPMs with autodownload enabled Designer of the Power Dolls' Power Loaders Special Thanks to : Rayl, for his permission to let me use the lovely viewable weapons from his lovely Ryla model. I had to slightly modify some of the weapon models to reduce clipping, but the beauty of all the weapons still comes from Rayl's talent. Ryla can be downloaded at the download section in http://www.planetquake.com/q2pmp. Message from Big Rocket : Hi, I'm Alex Baptista, alias Big Rocket. You may remember me from such previous Quake 2 models as Alx_DD.zip, featuring the D.D. Battlemover from Bubblegum Crisis. I originally created Alx_PowerDolls for my personal use in Eraser bot. It is monstrously demanding, requiring high-end computers to run well. In fact, it can easily cause low-end computers to crash; therefore, please do NOT use this PPM on an on-line deathmatch server, until you have consulted your opponents. If this PPM causes your computer to crash, and an on-line opponent insists on using it despite your objections, here are 2 fixes -- choose either one: (1) Disable autodownload: Multiplayer -> player setup -> download options (2) Allow autodownload, but filter out models selectively: "If there is a model you never want to see again, [and] you keep d/l it automatically just copy another model's tris.md2, say the default male, to the offending directory. So the skins don't look messed up, you'll probably want to copy the male's (or whatever) skins too. You have to rename the skins to match those belonging to the model you're getting rid of, or people using it will appear wearing the bad model's skin on the grunt." -- Fix provided by Whisp Note: You may also have to re-link the weapon skin in NST. If this is too technical for you, then you can simply disable autodownload. Feedback Requested : I would very much like to hear back from you, to obtain the following information. You can reach me at BigRocket@juno.com. 1) What are your computer specs, such as CPU, system RAM, and video card? 2) What are your screen resolution and framerates? For example, do a timerefresh right where you spawn in the default Skinview level. 3) What did you like/dislike most about this model? Either way, you're encouraged to voice your opinions in the bulletin boards at http://www.planetquake.com/q2pmp/ and http://www.3dbodyshop.com 4) Where did you download this model? Q2PMP, 3D Bodyshop, Bazuzeus, Mecha Depository, or somewhere else? 5) Who designed the Power Dolls' Power Loader mecha? 6) Any other information you'd care to share. ========================================================================= * Play Information * New Sounds : No CTF Skins : Yes VWEP Support : Yes (Weapon models, maps, and skins by Rayl) (Weapon animations by Alex Baptista) * Construction * Poly Count : 2315 + Viewable Weapons Vert Count : 1396 + Viewable Weapons Mapping Vert Count : 1802 + Viewable Weapons Skin Count : 1 Default skin + 7 CTF variations Base : Alx_PowerDolls (by Alex Baptista) Ryla (weapon models, maps, and skins by Rayl) Editor/Utility Used : 3D Studio Max 2 (3D modeling, animation) ASCMaker (exporting 3DS animation) Q2 Modeller 0.90b (md2 and 3ds conversions, breaking and merging) NST v0.9b3 (skin mapping, painting) NST v1.0 beta (edge turn, normal flip) Skinview Mod v.4 (color checking, icon) Known Bugs : May cause older computer systems to crash Please report all bugs to BigRocket@juno.com Build/Animation Time : Version 1.0 Approximately 300 hours, give or take 30%, 100 hours for 3D modeling 50 hours for animation 100 hours for skin mapping 50 hours for skin painting Version 1.1 Approximately 20 hours, give or take 30%, 19 hours for viewable weapons 1 hour for CTF skins Version 1.2 (all four Power Loader variants) Approximately 40 hours, give or take 30%, 30 hours for new shoulder modeling/anims 10 hours for new shoulder mapping/painting <1 hour for rocket booster removal * How to use this model * Unzip all files to your quake2\baseq2\players\Alx_PLX4S_Land directory, and select at player setup in multiplayer menu. * Copyright / Permissions * QUAKE(R) and QUAKE II(R) are registered trademarks of id Software, Inc. The red mecha robot in the middle is my first model, inspired by the D.D. Battlemover from Bubblegum Crisis. The one on the right is the Regult (Zentraedi Battlepod) from Macross (Robotech.) Finally, the one on the left is the Power Loader X4S from Power Dolls 2, chosen to represent the quartet of Power Loader variants I have released in version 1.2. Screenshot taken in Famke bot.
