Nope, can not do that with a map override.

X7's right, you can't make changes to brushes (blocks) with .override's and invisible kill triggers are also brushes:(. In other words to make a 'kill area' the map needs to have a trigger field in it already which could then be changed to a trigger_hurt.

But.... after checking it seems that the map does have a large trigger field at the bottom :D, which is/was used to play a sound. So it could easily be made into a trigger_hurt field.  I uploaded a border.bsp.override to the rails/maps/ folder so as soon as quadz puts it on the server, jumping/falling down should now get you killed.  I also sunk the spawpads because they appeared to be floating quite a bit and were in only the way.
(P.S. that map also happens to have a small push-trigger near that edge with the "dead man's leap" sign. If you take off between the weapon and the sign and jump straight ahead you should hit it if you jump far enough.)

I've never been able to understand that - when a mapmaker has clearly taken a lot of care creating the map, and then leaves spawn pads haphazardly floating in sort of random disarray. :dohdohdoh:

I've had fun with that on xatrix (xrazy?).  I tried for awhile to bait opponents to chase me as I abruptly veered over the cliff, they would assume I was going to die and turn around in search of another target, meanwhile I come flying back out of the abyss and rocket them on the head.  It worked a couple times... :D  (Sometimes I would miss and actually fall to my death.)

The map is made for the Action Quake2 MoD.

The spawn pads are up off the ground & the pad model is not used in Action Q2

This orginally began as tequila2, the sequel to my old map "Tequila Sunrise"
it was going to be a old mexican fort/church type place, but after I saw low
budget movie called "Black Cat Run" it gave me a few ideas of a ruined church
and an old has station along a seldom used highway in the desert. Once again
the idea changed and the highway and gas station idea was scrapped, but the
ruined church remains with an old abandoned mine shaft and "Dead Mans Leap"
which is a reference to a classic FPS game released before Jedi Knight by
Lucasarts, called "Outlaws" which is a game I still play to this day, I suggest
you go grab a copy and give it a try. Also the layout of this map is influenced
by the map Teamjungle, and is more teamplay orientated, but mine looks more like
a desert than Teamjungle looks like a Jungle :) oh and like Tequila Sunrise, On
The Border's name came from an Eagles song of the same name.

koth6 is up and the crickets are really enjoying it on the server with that one guy who's afk..

can we please change it so all 3 of these new maps aren't in a row in the rotation.. or possibly just make koth6 only available via mymap??

its hard to get more than 4-5 players on railz these days and watching everyone bail out because the least balanced map ever created just came up is pretty fuckin infuriating.


here's a list of maps that I think should be added to the rotation, most of which are perfect for medium sized instagib games.
some were even on the rotation before only to be removed for whatever reason, but we should all be able to agree that they rock the fuckin socks off of koth6:

i aggree, koth6 is fun, but it sucks in railz, also border, marics35 and koth are now lined up to be next maps, makes it very annoying, id like for marics35 to be stay in there as it is, and border and koth6 only possible to request thru mymap..  :afro:

I've removed koth6 and border from the rotation (they are still available in mymap).

I left marics35 as there didn't seem to be complaints about it...?
