Paper Models, Part Deux
« on: July 10, 2009, 09:48:36 PM »
It's been forever, and I bet you're all wondering exactly where I've been (again) and what I've managed to muster up in the mean-time.

Things got a little crazy on life's end and I've been busy with CleanCode.. that doesn't mean that I wasn't able to make anything!

Sadly, the supertank in the above picture never got started due to a mistake in the first printing, and I was too lazy to re-print those 50-some pages again.
So I moved onto the next paper project...

A while back, I started on a giant Quad Damage.
You may of heard about it being put up for grabs in a contest.
It still is as far as I know, Jehar has not relayed any further information to me about
the winner and where I'm sending this thing; if the winner doesn't claim this prize,
and someone is willing to pay shipping, it can be yours.

In keeping with my regular posting style, 56-k friendly thumbnails link to bigger images.

[Pics to come, main site down...]

As I was writing this, my site has gone down, so I'll find that out before I post anything more.
There is more, though!

If he wants the model still, he can reply in here.
If he doesn't reply within a while, it'd be up for grabs I guess.

Alright, site's back up!

Clarification: Mouse pad is NOT a paper model!
I got it custom made:

My custom-made mouse pad

This is hangin' on my wall!

Frontal shot

Size comparison in front of my 22'' monitor

One of the nails taken out of the Quad, with hand for size comparison

The moon-shaped outline and both nails on-top

The next thing I worked on was something that took me in total about 4 days.
I'll start with some of the peripherals, and work my way up ;)

The base! Those who die a lot may recognize it...

Side shot (bad)

Side shot 2

Guess the Gun!

Action Quake players will recognize this piece

GRENADDDDDDDDDE

GRENAADDDDDDDDDDE 2

ALL SQUAD LEADERS COORDINATE WITH SISTER TEAMS

Ammo backpack! Version 2.0!

The flap opens up to reveal...

a hollow inside!

RAR

Standing on base with nothing attached, size comparison

Shot of "belt" with nade and weapon attached

Showing modular Velcro

Modular Velcro 2

All attached!

Coming soon: Blaster side-arm and FULL array of weapons (+ weapon rack) for this guy!
Once the weapon rack and everything is done, I might throw it up for grabs for a highest bid or something!

For Vigilante? I assume he's the winner?

I can do commissions too. Just send me a PM on what you'd like to see, and I'll try my best to make it happen.

The symbol for me is all about Q1,  easier to draw I guess.

<- mine was done in the kiddies sidewalk chalk.  I always get an eye roll out of my wife when I do one.

Nice work Paril!

Awesome work Paril!  :bravo:

Flex, sidewalk chalk suits the quake symbol well. Gives it the rusted, rough surface look.

Built Blaster and Grapple addons to the model.
Building Hyperblaster addon at the moment.
Added stilts (lol) to his ankles to balance him out (there's way too much weight on the front, causes his ankles to buckle)

Will post pics of progress and the new things

RARG

Stilts (lol)

Blaster

Belt Blaster

Grapply

Grapple hanging off backpack

Hyperblaster pre-cutting

Hyperblaster finished

Hyperb 2

I didn't take shots of the Hyperblaster equipped. Due to the shape and size of the Hyperblaster gun (used g_, not vwep models), it is actually too big to fit comfortable in his hands. This may be evidence of why id's vwep model of the Hyperb was much leaner.
