Late speed mod entry - RocketGib

Rocket Gib

Currently hosted on ROTAMODS server... GOTO ROTAMODS

Rockets only. Only direct hits count. The more rocket launchers you pick up, the more rockets you shoot. Knockback damage greatly increased. Armor can stop knockback.

Is that an old server? I'll check it out tonight.

My mod differs from rockets only because not only is it direct hit only, but missed rockets will launch players far away making the next shot difficult. Rocket play in q2 normally relies on placing a difficult to dodge area of damage at people's feet. This mod punishes that and forces accuracy over spam.


Plus lots of long distance rocket jumps!

Sounds like fun rota. Reminds me of that Quake Live devpick we had a few weeks ago - except cooler.

I'm trying to get my server up for it this weekend.

I've only play tested it with a second client standing still and on single player. I'm excited to start blasting players around and find out how the super-rocket jumps add to the gameplay.

I'm guessing it won't be too far off from instant grapples.

Update 1_1:

The original post will reflect the new download.

Fixed issue with high speed rockets spawning inside floors when rocket jumping.
Replaced rocket trail because 3 players were able to reach the particle limit...constantly
Raised starting rocket speed (750)
Raised total possible rocket speed (1800)
Raised speed bonus per rocket launcher(75)

New update.

*Link updated in first post*

Replaced powerups with extra rocket launcher pick ups
Players drop 1/2 of their rocket launchers when killed (up to 6)
Dirty hack to help with (-x,-y,-z) quadrant aiming that made rockets not get fired
Changed armor only lower kick back from enemy rockets (to allow people to still rocket jump with thier own explosion).
