Hi,

since i downloaded and installed the latest r1q2 i have that extra lag which makes quake feel like moving on a slidy surface.
My console tells me that the server needs to update his r1q2.exe.
Maybe that would help, because it has some network changes in it.

I am sure the servers will be updated in time,

Time is the issue, talking ot r1ch it seems to take time to do,
alot considering the large number of servers here

Actually, I imagine he will start with all the empty servers first.
Since the server could be restarted without bumping all the players....

All the files have been updated on the server hard drives (tastyspleen.net and east.tastyspleen.net).

All that's left is restarting each of the q2 servers...

Which may happen this evening, dunno...

At the moment im getting the following message :

protocol 35 version mismatch (1904 != 1903), falling back to 34

It keeps reconnecting with the same message as above and I can't join the vanilla server.

Im using the Aprq2 v1.20 client.

Hopefully, aprq2 users will not be locked out now... Great! (not talking about the horrible ping I have had for weeks/months now, but this is most likely due to my default ISP).

At the moment, I had to modify the aprq2 sources, "fake" a protocol 35 (version 1904) client and recompile. Now I can reconnect, though I do not know what side-effects there may be...

Again:
I hope, aprq2 users will not be forced to switch to r1q2, because I like aprq2 way better (better sound support for Linux users, among others - not to mention that I modified the aprq2 sources anyway and integrated some nice changes for my personal use, of course no cheating whatsoever).

I just found that it is much easier to be able to still connect:

Just before connecting set cl_protocol 34 in the console.

Hope, this helps others who couldn't connect any longer. ;-)

It wasnt the server causing issues here...

Is this going to fix a jump height problem?

Most notable on the "tastyspleen" custom map I think is called "grunt no more." It has the giant banner visible from the rg platform that has a "tastyspleen" written next to a dinner plate with fork and knife.

Near the RG are 3 boxes, 1 stacked on top of 2 with a 4th smaller box allowing the player to double jump onto the tallest box, navigate a tiny ledge and get the yellow armor. On the side of the 3 boxes opposite of the 4th small box is a spawn pad. Normally the heigth of a spawn pad will allow a player to jump on top of a large box. However r1q2 clients for one reason or another could not complete this jump.

I have tried the cl_vsync 0 before without any success. However I did not realize cl_maxfps would help. I set it to 90 and it worked.

A new version of AprQ2 has been released (version 1.21) on october 28.
AprQ2 now supports cl_async as well.

And no need to set "cl_protocol 34" any longer.

It works very well for me.

AprQ2 v1.21 works okay over here too. And it uses protocol 35 again by itself.
