Single Map,
Fraglimit: 120
No Armor
No Powerups
No Health
Use of blaster forbidden

Rules

1on1 Nade Tournament

  • Latecomers: The Referee will wait 5 mins from the Scheduled time, after which the first map will be W/O, another 5mins for the Second and final W/O. This needs to be enforced so that the schedule doesn't get major delays.
  • Players disconnecting during a game will have 120 secs to rejoin otherwise they will be W/Oed for that map
  • Top-bracket player picks first map, bottom-bracket player picks second map. Both players may agree on third map, otherwise player with best frag/death differential picks tie-breaker map
  • Same map may not be picked in the same Match (best 2 out of 3)
  • Any use of the blaster gun will result in a disqualification of the map being played - tolerance zero
  • Any unclear issue will be dealt with by the Tourney Admins/Referees

Race to 120

  • Latecomers are welcomed to join in
  • Any use of the blaster gun will result in a kickban from the server for the duration of the event - tolerance zero. We make it that black and white so that there are no excuses/arguments coming out of this dilemma
  • Players disconnecting during the game may reconnect, their total frag count will be cumulated after the race ends with the help of our stat engine
  • Any unclear issue will be dealt with by the Tourney Admins/Referees

Regarding the Seeding,

If we have 16 players or less. A 16players bracket will be used. Each person will receive a randomly drawn number which will place them in the Bracket.

If we have 17 players or more, we'll use a 32players bracket, seeding will be the same.

People with no one to play will get a BYE to next round.

Yeah zero tolerance on blaster is going to result in a lame event unless you actually remove the blaster. I, as well as many others here, could provide you with a blaster removed gamex86.dll.

That's the sole reason I have not signed up for anything. No AC, no game, that's my policy. AC should be strictly enforced, no if's and's or but's.

I hadn't even thought about AC yet, oh well. Probably because it's just a not-so-serious Nade only thing with admins on the sidelines who are watching, so I'm not worried about possible cheating in this case. But if others would like AC to be forced for this then I can't blame them...

No AC, no game, that's my policy. AC should be strictly enforced, no if's and's or but's.

What we'll do is force AC, but to make it fair, we'll only allow people using Win 9x, Linux, or Mac OS to connect to the server.

That will be equitable as then absolutely nobody will be able to connect.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"But seriously, folks."

I am not adverse to forcing AC for a tournament by default.  But exceptions must be made for players using operating systems where AC doesn't exist.  Excluding all players who don't run a WinNT-based OS is pure unadulterated bullshit which I won't tolerate. :raincloud: :raincloud: :raincloud:

After a format my AC no longer works... I'm not sure whats up. Newest version of r1q2, which I use, with anticheat.dll both in my q2 dir. I know another person with the same problem.

For some reason it doesn't always work for me either even though I have my q2 folder made an exception for my anti virus software. (and I make sure it's up to date)

Even if they did, how does that prove someone isn't using spiked grenade models? I'm not trying to stir some shit either, I think it's a legitimate request that all players in an organized tourney be required to prove to some point that they are not using any modified files/cheats. I remember at the start of the NAiL tourney last year I was required to begin using r1q2 and AC when I had been used to playing with the 3.21 client. It took a lot of getting used to, but I did it anyway because rules are rules. Everyone may be playing legit, but I see no need to base that assumption on "faith" alone when there is a means to prove it.

I agree that it would be pretty lame to exclude people just because they run a different operating system. It's unfortunate that there isn't a simple way to allow for anticheat to be used with these other OSs.  I personally don't think it's THAT much of a "pure unadulterated bullshit" request to inquire as to how the refs of a tourney will determine that everyone is abiding by the rules.

To me, "bullshit" is having to worry about how smoothly things will run and whether or not the playing field is 100% level when all I'm trying to do is enjoy a game.

I don't mean this in a dickish way, but I have to chuckle a little bit from a historical perspective.  AC hasn't been around all that long.  It's like, omg! how did we run all those tourneys before AC existed?

As I recall, what we did was require everyone to record a first person demo of themselves, and that demo could be viewed if any questions about the gameplay arose.  We also made sure to let people know if they were caught cheating during a tourney the could expect to be banned from ALL the servers for a long time.

That sort of thing, I guess.

I personally don't think it's THAT much of a "pure unadulterated bullshit" request to inquire as to how the refs of a tourney will determine that everyone is abiding by the rules.

Sure, it's a perfectly reasonable question. :)

We could also record serverdemos to automatically capture everyone's point of view.  (Assuming there are any tools in existence that reliably break down serverdemos into player demos... dunno about that.)

That said, this is a hand grenade tourney.  I'm not sure how much spiked models, aimbots, and wallhacks would be a whole lot of help to a cheater in a tourney like this.  (Not that I'm suggesting we be lax about it. People caught cheating during a tourney--handgrenade only or not--can still expect to be banned.)

Regards,

More or less what I was concerned about was the usage of spiked grenade models. I know that AC prevents someone from using them because I've tried logging into servers using paks that I've downloaded just to test them out, and unbeknownst to me it contained spiked grenade models and wouldn't allow me to connect. I'm not really concerned with aimbot usage in a nade tourney, I'm aware that using an aimbot with any weapon that shoots a projectile that takes any amount of time to reach the target is pretty much useless unless you're standing 6 feet away from them. But using spiked grenade models could help a person NOT accidentally step on one, which is what I'm assuming it was designed for.

POV demos will only show you the game according to what YOU have loaded. Is there a way to stuff commands to people at a point in the match that would make them take a screenshot and then require them to post that/those screenshot(s)? That could cause a momentary pause for folks in a match, I'm not sure. I know some may be thinking I'm just trying to be difficult, but I just think that it would benefit EVERYONE involved in the tourney to have peace of mind knowing that everyone is held 100% accountable for playing a good clean game.

If you were attached to reality, you'd realize that.

Quake 2 needs a private bathroom.
